The editors would like to acknowledge the cooperation of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Carleton University in making their facilities available for the workshop. Two groups contributed the funds that made the workshop possible; first, the Expert and Advisory Services Fund in support of the Middle East Peace Process, a fund that is provided by the Canadian International Development Agency and the Canadian federal Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and that is managed by IDRC; second, the Faculty of Public Affairs and Management at Carleton University. Their joint support was essential to the international collaboration that we were able to effect at this workshop. We must also acknowledge the assistance of a number of people who contributed significantly to the workshop and to the book: Margaret Emokor and David Todd of IDRC, together with Habib Mehiri, helped enormously with plans for an open session presented to journalists, government officials, representatives from the diplomatic community, and members of nongovernmental organizations. Ms Emokor also assisted with the administration of the IDRC grant to Carleton University that was essential to making the workshop possible. Ms Keri Holtby, a graduate student at the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs, served as rapporteur at the workshop, and Michael Benedeck and Ann-Lisa Brewer, also graduate students, assisted with the practical aspects of the workshop. Ms Enid Valerie provided literary and production editing of each of the chapters. We are enormously grateful for the help of all of these people.
