The IDRC-supported Conjunctive Use of Water Resources in Deccan Trap was one of 50 success stories chosen by the United Nation's Department of Social and Economic Affairs to highlight during the Sixth Session of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development. All the winning projects were in the field of environmental management and involved "partnerships between different actors (including community participation), showed integrated and multidisciplinary approaches, and had the potential to be replicated elsewhere. They were chosen on the basis of the results they achieved and the lessons learned from the project. The Deccan Trap project was a collaborative effort with Bharatiya Agro Industries Foundation (BAIF), Pune, India, the University of Windsor Earth Sciences, Windsor, Ontario, and the tribal and rural people of Akole Taluka, Maharashtra, India. A summary of the project can be found on the CSD6 website or you can learn more from the Reports article: Improving Access to Water on India's Deccan Plateau
