IDRC @ Internet Governance Forum (IGF)

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
November 12-15, 2007
[versión en español]

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) was one of the first development agencies to embrace information and communication technologies (ICTs) as a key tool for development and poverty alleviation. With established programs such as Acacia in Africa, Pan Asia Networking in Asia, and Pan Americas in Latin America, IDRC has a breadth of experience on the impact of ICTs on the lives of people in the developing world. This experience is reflected in IDRC's leading role in international initiatives such as the Institute for Connectivity in the Americas, Connectivity Africa, and the G8 Digital Opportunity Task Force. For more information visit http://www.idrc.ca/en/ev-48418-201-1-DO_TOPIC.html

IDRC will participate in multiple ways at IGF in Rio de Janeiro.

Eleven (11) young researchers from around the world, with expertise in Internet governance issues have been invited by IDRC to act as IGF reporters. This group of dynamic of youth will cover the 5 main IGF themes (access, diversity, security, openness, and critical Internet resources), reporting back on how the issues discussed at the event will affect their country and region, and particularly youth like themselves. Live IGF through these talented researchers by visiting their blogs.

IDRC staff will also be participating in IGF. Click here to meet them.

You will also be able to find IDRC in the IGF Village Square where it will host a kiosk and distribute information on ICT4D and the work of its partners. Monday November 12 & Tuesday November 13 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
