IDRC has been active in Mexico for 35 years. For example, Centre research partners have contributed to Mexico’s successful fight against malaria without using the controversial pesticide, DDT, and to the professionalization of the public service through an e-learning program. Current research focuses on health policy, social protection against poverty, rural development, and the promotion of innovation.
 
IDRC recognizes Mexico as a bridge between developed and developing nations.
