Projects administered by the IPS Research Partnerships Challenge Fund or with participation on them:
Project Number 104187 Title: International Partnership Initiative (IPI) - A Collaboration between the Networks of Centres of Excellence and IDRC Start Date 2007/02/23 Abstract: The International Partnership Initiative (IPI) is a joint undertaking by the Canadian Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) program and IDRC. A pilot initiative of NCE, IPI seeks to facilitate mutually beneficial relations between NCE networks, and researchers and research organizations outside Canada. This grant will facilitate the participation of researchers from low and middle-income countries (LMICs) in the IPI. It will do so by making funding available on a competitive basis to cover the cost of their participation in training and knowledge-sharing activities. ______________________ Project Number 104021 Title: Emerging Dynamic Growing Economies Annual General Meeting Start Date 2006/09/21 Abstract: The Emerging Dynamic Growing Economies Network (EDGE), a Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) project, will be holding its inaugural general meeting in Ottawa, 23-24 November 2006. The purpose of the meeting is to identify and decide on research priorities in each of the five EDGE research areas: energy, automobiles, trade and investment, intellectual property (including biodiversity), and rule of law and human rights. This grant will allow key researchers from Asia, Africa and Latin America to travel to and participate in the meeting. _________________________ Project Number 104183 Title: Strengthening Climate Adaptation Research: Workshop Start Date 2006/11/30 Abstract: In Canada, much of the research on adaptation to climate change has benefited from the important supporting role played by research granting councils and specialized foundations. In addition, federal departments have demonstrated leadership through, for example, the Climate Change and Adaptation Research Network. There have also been some innovative alliances across the private and public sectors. IDRC is implementing a large program focused on adaptation to climate change in Africa. For the most part, these efforts have not facilitated international collaborative or comparative research. On the premise that both Canadian and developing country research on climate change would be enriched through international research on shared problems, this grant will support a workshop to bring the two research communities together to discuss a research agenda of mutual interest, and possible modalities for co-funding. ___________________________ Project Number 103460 Title: Teasdale-Corti Global Health Research Partnership Start Date 2005/10/01 Abstract: The Teasdale-Corti Global Health Research Partnership is a major new collaborative health research program developed by the founding partners of the Global Health Research Initiative (GHRI). Its objectives are : to promote the generation and use of health research relevant to low- and middle-income countries (LMICs); to train and support researchers responsive to the needs and priorities of LMICs; and to support active collaboration between researchers and research users (policymakers, practitioners, civil society organizations (CSOs), community members) in addressing the health priorities of LMICs. This grant will finance a set of activities during the first five-year phase of the program, including grant competitions, training awards, brokering and networking, seed funding, evaluation, and synthesis of research results. |
