Abstract
The Community of Practice in Ecohealth (COPEH) supported by IDRC's Ecosystem Approaches to Human Health (Ecohealth) program initiative would like to establish one or two regional projects in West and Central Africa involving simple but innovative solutions to household waste management. This grant will support a project comprising two components: an exploration of the dimensions of the urban and periurban household waste problem in each of the potential country partners in the region; and a series of national and regional capacity building workshops. The principal goal of the workshops will be to arrive at a consensus on one or two regional projects, which will be presented to the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and other interested partners for funding consideration.
