Abstract

The national academy of science and technology (S&T) of Sénégal (Académie nationale des sciences et techniques du Sénégal - ANSTS), created in 1999, has adopted an ambitious strategic plan to assume the role of advisor to government, the national assembly, public and private institutions, and civil society; promote scientific research and technological innovation in the service of sustainable development; support innovative, quality S&T education; and promote an S&T culture among the general public. This grant will allow the academy to establish a work infrastructure (information and communications equipment, website, digital library); strengthen its managerial and resource mobilization capacity; organize workshops on controversial themes, roundtables for parliamentarians and decision-makers, debates and programs for the general public, etc.; support the minister of education in revising the science curriculum; and strengthen cooperation and partnership with similar organizations in Africa - especially francophone West and Central Africa - and elsewhere in the world.
