Abstract
Africa remains the only continent that has not fully benefited from the Green Revolution. For over 100 years now, agricultural research has generated numerous technologies - improved varieties, soil and water management, crop protection, biotechnology - but these have not been widely adopted by smallholders in Africa. The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) recognizes that increased and sustainable agricultural production is key to Africa's economic progress. Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility (TSBF), an initiative of the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), is holding an international symposium entitled, Innovation as Key to the Green Revolution in Africa : Exploring the Scientific Facts. The Symposium will offer an opportunity to learn about the innovation process and build linkages with other actors in the innovation system. This grant will support the participation of various stakeholders in the agricultural sector in Africa in the symposium.
