IDRC’s support for Afghan researchers resumed with the fall of the Taliban government in 2001. Current efforts focus on building the country’s research capacity and on such concerns as democratization, rural livelihoods, and the role of information and communication technologies.

The largest IDRC-funded initiative in Afghanistan seeks to rebuild the country’s research capacity in the wake of decades of debilitating conflict.
