On September 10 and 11, 2007,
IDRC’s Regional Office in Singapore hosted an encounter of senior policy-makers and analysts from Southeast Asia’s Research Councils, related organizations and
IDRC staff, including the Centre’s President Maureen O’Neil, the Regional Director Richard Fuchs, and
IPS Program Area Director Richard Isnor among others.
The Forum explored how
IDRC can work with the research councils in the region. An idea is to develop a functional network that would convene an annual learning forum with the involvement of policy makers. The focus of research would be on pro-poor innovation issues. The Forum participants made some concrete recommendations, which will be very useful in guiding
IDRC’s innovation policy work in Southeast Asia.
