Prev News 7 of 55 Next
The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) is organizing, in collaboration with The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS), the interactive event “TWAS/BioVisionAlexandria.Nxt”. This will be the first time this event will run and is scheduled to be held concurrently with the BioVisionAlexandria 2008 conference under the title “Funding Research in the Developing World”.

BioVisionAlexandria.NXT will be an interactive 2-day event held on 11-12 April 2008, intended for around 100 young scientists from the developing world, representing universities and academic institutions.  There two main objectives of this workshop are to bring together donor representatives and young researchers to learn about existing activities and opportunities offered by funding organizations; and to participate in a roundtable discussion on national challenges and regional needs faced by developing countries.

The grant that the Innovation, Technology and Society program of IDRC is offering will provide the opportunity to young researchers participating in the BioVisionAlexandria.NXT workshop and the BioVisionAlexandria Conference (12-16 April, 2008), to be exposed to diverse topics as the impact of research funding in developing countries; the national and regional challenges faced in regards to research funding; to identifying developing country needs in regards to funding and research; and to provide an opportunity for young researchers to meet with life sciences professionals, and provide them with an opportunity to present their work in a professional environment.
