Over the last 34 years, IDRC has supported more than 100 activities in Uganda. Most of this research took place after the major period of violence and instability in the country, which lasted from 1971 to 1986. Much of it has been in the areas of health and agriculture.
 
Recent IDRC support has focused on the link between poverty and environmental management in cities, as well as on the application of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to development.
