This WHO/IDRC Policy Brief on Gender and Tobacco Control was published to provide national governments with a menu of evidence-based options for building or strengthening comprehensive and effective tobacco control programs, policies and interventions that address gender-specific needs. These policy recommendations were developed during an International Seminar on Women and Tobacco in November 2005 at IDRC's headquarters in Ottawa which brought together 25 international experts in gender and tobacco control.
