Bio

Dr. Carrie Mitchell received her PhD in Environmental Geography from the University of Toronto. Her research focused on urban development and informal solid waste management in urban and peri-urban areas of Hanoi, Vietnam. She has additional expertise in composting and community-based solid waste management as well as regional experience in Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam and Laos. Dr. Mitchell also holds a Masters of Science in Urban Planning (Toronto) and a Bachelors in International Development, with a specialization in Women in the Development Process (Guelph). She has taught on topics related to environmental, economic, political and social change in Southeast Asia at the University of Toronto and lectured on solid waste management and quantitative and qualitative methods in Canada and Southeast Asia.
