Job Overview

The Research Librarian is a key member of a team responsible for the delivery of comprehensive research information services which contribute strategic value to the work of RIMSD clients. The incumbent will provide research services and coaching and training sessions, and participate in planning and communications activities.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Master’s degree in library and information science. An undergraduate degree in a field related to the IDRC program areas is desirable.


    • Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in the provision of reference services and end-user instruction is required.
  • Experience in conducting searches at the expert level is required.


    • Language

  • Bilingual (English and French) position at an advanced level

  • Knowledge of Spanish or Arabic is an asset.


    • Knowledge

  • Knowledge of information science, particularly of reference techniques and tools.
  • Knowledge of international development terminology and relevant research resources.
  • Knowledge of developing countries’ access to research literature.
  • Knowledge of the program areas of the Centre.


    • Competencies

  • Superior communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to deliver training and coaching session on search techniques and the use of resources.
