The Middle East Special Initiatives or the Middle East Unit is located within the Special Initiatives Division at IDRC and includes three programs:

• The Expert and Advisory Services Fund (EASF)
  The EASF focuses on the Palestinian refugee issue; The EASF supports research and capacity building for policy planning and coordination by Middle Eastern parties on the refugee issue as they seek to find and implement sustainable solutions to the refugee problem.

• Middle East Good Governance Fund (MEGGF)
  The MEGGF focuses on the role of civil society and political parties in influencing policy processes, with a focus on Islamist political parties and civil society.

• Scholarship Fund
  This fund supports Palestinian Refugee women to undertake undergraduate university education in Lebanon.
