OECD's Basic Rules of Conduct: Sociology of Its Institutional Culture

 Document(s)

Chapter 3: OECD's Basic Rules of Conduct: Sociology of Its Institutional Culture Jean-H. Guilmette Ottawa 12-05-2004

In this chapter the practical application of fundamental values (democracy, market economy, and cooperation) are discussed in their historical context and the praxis of OECD being explained. How are things done in this unique organization? How the traditions that govern its internal relations were created? What is the etiquette prevalent in this institution? What are the unwritten rules of conduct? The chapter contains explanations and demonstrations of the OECD's unique network organization and its principles, taking in account that it is profoundly different from those that structure traditional organizations, such as ministries, large corporations, or even other international organizations.
