The Pan Asia ICT R&D Grants Programme is pleased to announce the January 2003 Competition round for R&D grant applications. This is a special competition round of the programme in which proposals addressing the themes of the World Summit on the information Society (WSIS) are being actively sought. Interested Organizations from the Asia-Pacific region may now apply for a grant under this programme, by following the instructions below. About the Programme The Pan Asia ICT R&D Grants Programme is a joint effort of IDRC (International Development Research Centre), APDIP (Asia Pacific Development Information Programme, an initiative of the UNDP) and APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre); and is managed by AMIC (Asian Media Information and Communication Centre). More information about the programme, including its aims, themes and history of grants, are available on the left hand column of this website. WSIS Theme In this next competition round, the grants programme is specially calling for proposals addressing the themes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). These themes, which are explained in more detail on the WSIS website, are as follows: 1) Access to ICTs for all 2) ICTs as a Tool for Economic and Social Development - Meeting the Millennium Development Goals. (Not applicable for point No.4 on "Protecting the vulnerable and meeting the special needs of Africa") Proposals which specifically address the above themes will be given priority, however those which address the broader themes of the Pan Asia ICT R&D Grants Programme will be accepted as usual. Please carefully read the Guide to the Programme to learn more about the Grants, Application and Awarding procedures, before completing an Application form with the full details of your proposal. Please note that proposals must satisfy all of the programme requirements in order to be considered for funding. Please note also that the deadline for submission for this competition round is 15 February 2003. We regret to inform that late submission of application will not be accepted. The Pan Asia ICT R&D Grants committee will screen all proposals, and the results will be made known in April 2003.
