In 1997 the first project was carried out in Ukraine on investigating RCW technology at Boyarska Forestry Research Station, National Agrarian University in collaboration with the Forestry Department of Laval University, Canada. The research was conducted in two experimental plots: the first plot was set up in March 1997, (RCW without foliage was applied) and the second plot - in September of the same year (RCW with leaves was used). The project implementation became feasible due to the grant provided by International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Ottawa, Canada.
