[Back to ITS] RoKS is a competition under the IPS Program Area that supports specific themes to promote analysis and debate of key issues in the evolution and functioning of "knowledge systems" in developing countries. These competitions also help to identify longer-term priorities for ongoing research under the ITS PI. RoKS was launched in June 2001 as an IDRC exploratory initiative. The first theme (2001-2002) addressed the changing role of public‑private sector support for R&D. The second theme (2002-2003) addressed small states and knowledge systems. The third theme (2003-2004) addressed the social and public policy dimensions of transformative technologies in the South. (For more information, please see past list of RoKS grantees below in the documents section). The fourth theme (2006) addressed the changing role of univesities in developing countries. The grantees were announced recently, you can see a list and an abstract of their proposed research on the document below called RoKS Awardee Sumaries 05-06.
