| Mining Policy Research Initiative (MPRI) |
The Mining Policy Research Initiative (MPRI) was created in 1998 by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). After 8 years of execution of this project in coordination with other initiatives, we feel satisfied with the results obtained in terms of the generation of evidence responding to key mining issues in the region; contribution to the improvement of research capacities and regional networks, and the recognition of key stakeholders in the context of the debate on the role played by mining development in the development process of the region.
Giving the project success in meeting its expected objectives, IDRC decided to incorporate some of the issues previously covered by this project into the agendas of different IDRC programs that operate in the region at a broader and longer-term scale. The process of transition of our mining programming through MPRI concluded July 31, 2006.
We hope that this experience of interaction has been as enriching for all of you as it has been for us. It is our pleasure to put all the information generated by MPRI in this website.
We take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and contribution and invite you to keep in contact with IDRC through our website www.idrc.ca
This site operated mainly in Spanish and English from the Latin America and the Caribbean office of IDRC, located in Montevideo, Uruguay. Please refer to any of these languages to obtain more detailed information.
