Abstract
An interesting research proposal on the contribution of informal urban agriculture to sustainable development in the city of Cotonou, Bénin was submitted to IDRC for funding. This study showed promise of generating information on urban agriculture at the household and community level, with a view to encouraging city officials to formulate and implement policy and technology options for the benefit of the urban poor. Unfortunately, a number of logistical factors prevented the Centre from making a timely contribution to the research activities. This modest grant will contribute toward a graphical and pictorial illustration of the research results and help disseminate the findings, information that is likely to have some policy impact.
