Abstract
One of the principles included in the Bamako Initiative was to involve communities in the governance of health services administration and management. But the fact is that the structures that have been put into place are not functioning as they should. Inequalities in access to care persist and the poorest have been excluded from the benefits of health care reforms. This project will document the relationship between governance and quality of care with a view making proposals for greater community involvement. The grant will support research associated with planning activities in the area of management procedure, as well as the identification of internal and external partnerships.
