Abstract
There have been many telecentre initiatives based on a variety of technologies and management models throughout French-speaking West Africa. All of them have one thing in common: the need to share knowledge and support each other. This is all the more important given that most telecentre resources and online discussion forums are available in English only. Telecentre practitioners in Mali have recognized the importance of networking and started an association (AMPTIC - Association malienne pour la promotion des technologies d'information et de la communication) to that end. AMPTIC conducts telecentre capacity building activities and develops training curriculums in French for telecentre managers. Building on Mali's effort, this project will allow a consultant to visit Bénin, Burkina Faso and Mali to consult stakeholders and identify a networking strategy. The aim is to extend telecentre networking first in the three countries, and later throughout the region.
