Abstract
During 16-18 January 2007, researchers and decision-makers held a dialogue on reducing maternal and neonatal mortality in Bénin. The symposium, which was the last in a series of six initiated by IDRC in West and Central Africa, brought together nearly 80 participants including researchers, decision-makers, moral authorities, members of civil society, representatives of training and research institutions, experts and donors, and regional advisors and officers from IDRC. At the end of the symposium, a follow-up committee was designated by the participants to follow up on the conclusions. This grant will allow the follow-up committee to engage a consultant to prepare a plan of action and organize a workshop to validate it, in collaboration with IDRC and the Ministry of Health.
