Abstract
Côte d'Ivoire has a large fish deficit. In order to increase domestic production, the government has given high priority to the fishery sector. This project will create a modern documentation centre for oceanography, limnology and aquaculture. Its general objective is to enable the authorities to develop a fishery sector by reinforcing the information management capacity of the Centre de recherches océanographiques (CRO) Library. It will organize in a more systematic way the information collecting and processing and diffusion activities already performed by the Library. As a result, the latter will have trained personnel and information tools adapted to CRO's needs; a bibliographic data base; and the ability to publish various documents. The beneficiaries will be CRO researchers, students and teachers in Côte d'Ivoire. Information users from Bénin and Togo will also benefit from the project.
Post-Project Summary
A complete postproject abstract could not be written due to the lack of a final report in the IDRC library. Available information indicates that the project objectives were met. See bibliography for project outputs.
