Abstract

French-speaking African researchers working in the social sciences have difficulties in assessing their needs and expressing them in appropriate scientific terms. They also have problems in furthering the utilization of research results. This is the consequence of the inadequate training for research offered by francophone universities. This project will enable the Université d'Abidjan and the Université de Brazzaville to put in place a program which will provide training in the formulation, management, and evaluation of research and development (R&D) projects in the social sciences. Elementary marketing techniques will also be taught. The project will enhance research dynamics at these universities, and help future researchers and students in their respective specializations. Specifically, participants will be trained in research methods and techniques; formulation of R&D project financing requests; follow-up of projects; and writing and editing research reports.
