Abstract

The Instituto Nacional de Estudios e Pesquisa (INEP) is the main research organization in Guinea-Bissau. It is involved in a long-term research program studying the impact of structural adjustment on education, employment, informal sector, land use forms, renewable energy, environmental problems, etc. This second phase project will strengthen the library of INEP and establish a national scientific, technical, and socioeconomic network. It will focus on training INEP and other network members as well as on the development of bibliographic and factual data bases. The project will also assist the library, which has the role of a national library, with the acquisition of documentation and equipment, and the completion of the reprographic laboratory, thus making it possible to carry out microfiching on the premises.
