Abstract
The exceptional urban growth taking place in Conakry made the Guinean authorities undertake an urban development plan. However, insufficient geological and geotechnical data delayed the realization of this plan. The first phase of this project carried out a geological survey and mapping of Conakry. Since then, a new, never explored before territory has been added to the city. This project will continue phase I. It will improve land utilization by studying the capability of different soil types and their capacity to support various constructions. It will enable the optimum utilization of the available territory for city planning by providing the necessary geotechnical information.
