Abstract

The Education Research Network for West and Central Africa (ERNWACO) - Phase III (065231/97-8157) is nearing completion. This project will support the 2003-2006 program. The general objective of the program is to enhance the influence of African expertise on education practices and policies in West and Central Africa. The project has four specific objectives: (i) strengthen the national and regional capacity for education research; (ii) enhance the quality and relevance of that research; (iii) foster public debate by disseminating research results; and (iv) contribute to the institutional strengthening of ERNWACO. Activities under this phase will include programs of small scholarships and the production of teaching and methodological manuals for participatory research in education. Particular effort will be devoted to making use of new information and communication technologies (ICTs) for disseminating research results and for creating a real community of educational practice in West and Central Africa.
