Abstract
Mali's press is one of the most underdeveloped on the entire African continent. The rural press is published by self-management. This project will reinforce the self-financing capacity of the Malian rural press; evaluate the impact of newspapers on the rural world; and investigate readers' needs to promote the social, cultural, and economic progress of Mali's peasants by the press. The project will also promote new techniques of newspaper management with respect to the computer-assisted printing of papers as well as the dissemination of subscriptions and sales in the country and abroad. As a result the assisted press will disseminate vital information, particularly on agricultural techniques, natural resources management, and health.
