Abstract
The Acacia initiative is an international effort to empower sub-Saharan African communities with the ability to apply information and communication technologies (ICTs) to their own social and economic development. The purpose of this activity is to ensure continuity in Acacia project development in South Africa and Mozambique by hiring a consultant to assist the Acacia Director in the following tasks: furthering a South African strategy to encourage local private sector partnerships in Acacia projects; developing a preliminary action plan for involving the private sector in Mozambique; implementing market awareness activities for the Acacia initiative; monitoring Acacia projects that are currently underway or under construction; identifying new project opportunities; and identifying and training a successor to assume responsibility for Acacia-related project and programme development.
