Abstract

A fairly wide range of institutions (government, local and international) are operating projects and programs aimed at rebuilding and improving agricultural productivity in Mozambique. There seems to be a lack of expertise, however, in adding value to primary products and in accessing domestic and external markets for such products, mainly essential oils, medicinals, and tropical and organic foods. This grant will allow a consultant to gather, analyze and summarize secondary information relevant to this issue; make further inquiries of key informants; plan, facilitate and report on two consultative workshops to be convened by IDRC on the subject; and, based on information and insights gained from these activities, identify programming strategy options and prospective institutional partners, and develop a follow-up plan of action.
