IDRC's Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa (ESARO), located in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, was established in the 1970s. For more than 25 years ESARO has been working with researchers and research institutions in the region in such areas as ICTs, peacebuilding, urban agriculture, health, trade and biodiversity, to name a few.
