We wish to acknowledge the generous financial support for this workshop from the management group of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). In particular, we wish to register our appreciation for the encouragement we received from Eva Rathgeber and Rob Valantin, who supported this idea from the very beginning.

Within IDRC Nairobi, George Githembe, Joy Mita, Joanne Mwenda, and Edith Ofwona worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the workshop. George, Edith, and Mwihaki Kimura (also of IDRC) took responsibility for following up with the workshop proceedings. Their efforts helped shape the outcome. We also thank Aminah Kasinga for excellent facilitation during the workshop. She kept us focused on its objectives and helped us flush out the most important aspects of the youth program.

We are grateful to all the workshop participants, whose enthusiasm for the program enriched the discussions and debates. The participants worked long into the night during the working-group sessions, and we acknowledge their dedication.
