| ValuAsia: Benefits Transfer for Southeast Asia |

Document(s) 44 de 45
Romel R. Saplaco and Herminia A. Francisco - Department of Economics, University of the Philippines Los Baños
With the heightening awareness that environmental quality is a scarce resource, the need to properly incorporate the environment in policy and decision making is becoming more relevant. This situation emphasizes the importance of environmental valuation in policy and decision making. The ValuAsia Archive encourages less developed and developing countries in Southeast Asia, such as the Philippines, to consider the environment in policy development and decision making endeavors.
The ValuAsia Archive accomplishes such an endeavor by being a conveniently ready database of environmental valuation studies focusing on primary studies from Southeast Asia and from other countries. It also encourages the proper use of benefits transfer, to help narrow the information gap that hinders policy makers from fully considering environmental factors in decision-making. Such an effort would also increase the use of environmental valuation in decision-making.
The ValuAsia Archive is open to future additions and/or revisions of whatever information it contains. It is envisioned to provide intelligent and practical solutions and answers to environmental valuation problems and needs of Southeast Asia.
